Independence is the will and the right to determine own tomorrow. Independence is the freedom to be yourself.
Only recently we have celebrated the 30th anniversary of the country’s independence with a thousand-year history. We were proud of the pass we went through, although we saw how much work was ahead.
Some six months have passed (24.08-24.02) and today there are explosions on the streets, destruction, small arms fire, refugees, wounded soldiers and corpses of occupants. Today, as the historian Volodymyr Vyatrovych said: “we have the 25th day of the eight-year war, which has been going on for over a hundred years.” Because the USSR occupied our country (UPR), whose government in 1991 handed over its jewels to the first President of Ukraine in the Verkhovna Rada.
The Cold Yar, the UPA, the Sixties, the Dissidents, the underground UGCC, the Granite Revolution, the Orange Revolution and the Revolution of Dignity are all forms of our struggle that have not stopped. Now we have, perhaps, the darkest time – the one that said, is just before dawn. And it seems that we are the generation of those who with passion and hatred seek to finally break the neck of the russian hydra, finally taking revenge for “the dead and the alive and the unborn.”
